VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

HAWC currently needs additional volunteers to serve on their hotline, as story time readers at the shelter, and (if of interest) on the legal advocacy team. To prepare to engage with survivors in these capacities directly, it is necessary first to complete 25+ hours of Domestic Violence Advocacy Training.

The next full training is held over a series of sessions beginning on February 26th and continuing through March 22. Training is hybrid with a mix of virtual live sessions & asynchronous learning modules. All sessions take place during evening hours, generally from 5:30-8 PM.

Many volunteers have served over 500+ hours, some 1000 hours, and it all started with this training! This training is a rich opportunity to learn, develop empathy-based skills, and enrich your understanding of domestic and intimate partner violence.

If you’re interested in participating in February or learning more information, please click here. They’ll schedule a time to connect via phone or over Zoom in the coming days and weeks.
