NSHAG Program Overview
The North Shore Housing Action Group (NSHAG) is a financial assistance program that focuses on the needs of young adults ages 18–24 who are experiencing housing instability. The program serves 30 cities and towns across Essex County.
Eligible participants may receive temporary financial assistance for move-in costs, rental stipends, basic furniture, education or trade-related expenses, child care, transportation, and other essential needs. In addition to financial support, case management services help young adults with housing searches, employment, education, and other goals that promote long-term stability.
NSHAG partners with service providers throughout the region, including the Lynn Shelter Association, The Haven Project, the City of Lawrence Homelessness Initiative, YouForward, Action Inc., Younity, LifeBridge, nAGLY, and many others.

The Massachusetts Youth Count is happening now!
The Massachusetts Youth Count is an annual survey that reveals the scope and needs of youth and young adults under the age of 25 who are unstably housed or experiencing homelessness. The Count process is also a mechanism to connect service providers with vulnerable youth to share resources with them and hear their voices.
The Count takes place over four weeks- from April 4th through May 5th. The survey is administered online and by service providers, Youth Ambassadors, and street outreach workers at drop-in centers, meal programs, programs for youth experiencing homelessness, and other places where young people congregate.
