College Scholarships

The Moving to College Scholarship is a new pilot program designed to support Massachusetts unaccompanied homeless youth as they transition to, progress through, and complete a college education. Scholarships for up to 20 students are funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Moving to Work program administered by the Department of Housing and Community Development, with additional support provided by the Department of Higher Education, the Unaccompanied Homeless Youth and Young Adult Commission and participating campuses. The NSHAG program is working closely with the Homeless Liaison & Foster Care Point of Contact from the Lynn public school, North shore community college and Salem State on this pilot.

The Youth Action Board of Essex County

Purpose is to be the voice and expertise of what youth experiencing homelessness are dealing with within their communities. The goal is for programs and the cities to listen to and learn from the Essex County YAB to improve policies affecting those experiencing homelessness as young adults. We are providing a safe space for the young adults to have a voice and to heard. We discuss issues that they are facing in the different parts of the region and we try to problem solve the best we can. The goal is to bring change.
